DalIngredients:
Toor dal – 1 cup, washed and pressure cooked. Well mashed.
Onion , - 1 medium sized –cut into thin, long strips / slices
Tomato – 1 medium sized - chopped
Salt – as per taste
Turmeric - ½ tsp
Sugar – ½ tsp
Green chilli – 1 – chopped finely
Cumin / Jeera – 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 2-4
Cilantro / Coriander – chopped , for garnish
Lemon Juice – 1 tsp
Oil – ½ tsp
Water - ½ cup
Method:
In a pan, heat oil, add mustard seeds, jeera, curry leaves.
Add onions, green chilli , tomatoes and ½ cup of water and cook well
Add turmeric, salt and sugar.
Add the cooked dal and boil
Garnish with lemon juice and cilantro.
Serve hot with rice / chappati / naan.
Green Beans
Green Beans – 2 cups, chopped
Onion , - 1 medium sized –chopped
Tomato – 1 medium sized - chopped
Sesame Seeds – ½ tsp Salt – as per taste
Turmeric - ½ tsp
Sugar – ½ tsp
Green chilli – 1 – chopped finely
Cumin / Jeera – 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 2-4
Cilantro / Coriander – chopped , for garnish
Oil –1 tsp
Method:
In a pan, heat oil, add mustard seeds, jeera, curry leaves.
Add beans, salt , turmeric and sugar and cook well
. In a separate pan, roast in a little oil, onions, tomatoes, sesame seeds and green chilli till onions turn brown
Cool and grind this onion-tomato mixture with 2 tsp of water.
Add this paste to the beans and cook covered for 5 minutes
. Garnish with cilantro
Serve hot with rice / chappati
